Call for Professors – Paraguayan-German University

The Paraguayan-German University of Applied Sciences (UPA) is the first binational university in Paraguay. It was founded in 2013 through a cooperation between SRH Holding and the Paraguayan Industrial Union (UIP). In addition to being recognized by the Paraguayan State, UPA has already been accredited by the German Science Council. The degree programs offered in Business Engineering, Industrial Engineering, and Business Information Technology are accredited in both Paraguay and Germany.

To strengthen its academic staff in Paraguay, the university is seeking Professors – full-time faculty members – to carry out the academic responsibilities detailed below:

  • Plan and teach courses in modular formats of 5 or 10 weeks;
  • Develop curricula for the degree programs;
  • Contribute to and enhance the university’s research and development capacities.

Below are the general requirements for all positions, followed by the specific requirements for each program.

General Requirements

  • Academic training in the area of specialization indicated in the specific requirements of each program.
  • Ability and experience in conducting scientific research, preferably with academic publications in the field.
  • Postgraduate degree in University Teaching Didactics.
  • Proficiency in Spanish and English and/or German (preferred).
  • Academic experience in university-level teaching in the specific field of the program, nationally and/or internationally (minimum 3 years), preferably with a competency-based approach.
  • Professional experience in the specific field of the program, nationally and/or internationally (minimum 3 years).
  • Proven track record in publishing research work in the field or related areas, developing research proposals to attract funding, and/or presenting and disseminating research results.
  • National and/or international experience (preferred) in other academic activities such as program coordination or management, interinstitutional relations, university outreach, among others, and the ability to actively perform these at UPA.
  • A student-centered vision; enthusiasm and ability for interactive teaching.
  • Ability to operate professionally in a multicultural, dynamic, and flexible environment, building positive relationships within the team.

Specific Requirements – Faculty of Business Sciences.

  1. Call for Professor (m/f) for the Business Engineering Program

    • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related fields
    • Doctorate or PhD, preferably international, in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related fields

  1. Call for Professor (m/f) for the Business Information Technology Program

    • Bachelor’s degree in ICT, Business Informatics, or related fields
    • Doctorate or PhD, preferably international, in ICT, Business Informatics, or related fields

Specific Requirements – Faculty of Engineering Sciences

  1. Call for Professor (m/f) for the Industrial Engineering Program

    • A degree in Engineering or a related discipline and a Doctorate in the field of Engineering.

  2. Call for Professor (m/f) for the Civil Engineering Program

    • A degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline and a Doctorate in the field of Engineering.
    • A specialization in Structures or Geotechnics will be considered a positive aspect of the application.

Job Posting: German as a Foreign Language Teacher (DaF) 2023

Requirements:

  • Graduate or student in the field of DaF or DaZ
  • German language proficiency at C1 level
  • At least 1 year of teaching experience
  • Knowledge of Spanish is an advantage
